A quarter zip is meant to sit clean at the hip and stop at your wrist. On a shorter frame it usually does neither. Ours is cut from the ground up for shorter women, so the body ends where it should and the sleeves finish at your wrist, not over your hand.

Then there is how it feels. Softly brushed, with an almost suede-like surface, in a cotton, polyester and spandex blend with real give in it.

Most things this soft are thin. This is 320GSM - enough weight to keep the cold off, but light enough to reach for it all year round.

• Serious stretch: enough spandex through the body that it gives as you move and pulls straight back, so it never bags out at the elbows or the hem

• Cotton, polyester and spandex: soft against your skin, and it holds its shape and its colour
• Cut for shorter proportions: body and sleeve length graded for a shorter frame, not scaled down from a longer block
• Structured stand collar: holds its shape properly zipped up, no collapsing at the neck
• Thin cinched waistband: a slimmer 3.5cm band that draws in at the waist instead of adding bulk
• Hidden side pockets: sewn cleanly into the side seam, no flaps, no interruption to the line
• Engraved zip pull: DEVENI engraved gold hardware

Not oversized. A soft drop shoulder and a clean finish at the cuff, so it layers under a coat without bunching and works on its own.
